Dear Brain Harvesters -
It’s with heavy hearts that we announce an end to our Brain Harvesting activities. It’s been a good run, but all good things must come to an end. The reasons for that end are myriad: one of us is departing for a trip around the world; one of us is entering the stretch run of a PhD program; and one of us is working not to murder the other two. These obligations, and others, make it impossible to give the site the attention it deserves, especially since we don’t show ads and have been funding operations out of our own pockets.
We know that getting your work out there can seem impossible if you’re not already known in the field of speculative fiction. It’s a vicious chicken-and-egg and it sucks, which is why in the three years BH has been live our mission has been to provide a venue for the kind of fiction we like, encourage new writers, and pay them. We feel pretty good about what we’ve accomplished in the course of that mission. We only wish we could have done it longer and better.
Thanks for reading us. We’ll see you around sometime.

Dear Brain Harvest,
You were an original. A risk-taker. A shelter for beautiful little orphans with sharp, crooked teeth. May you receive as much pleasure from travels, theses, and homicidal tendencies as I’ve received from your publication. Aloha.

Alas, I showed up late to the party, so late that the party ended the moment after my feet crossed the threshold. At least I’ll have the pleasure of continuing to delve into the archives. Best of luck to the Brain Harvest staff.

You were a mean shot of fiction, but no syringe is bottomless. Thanks for the fix.

Brainharvesters, thank you! You gave a home to the strange, weird, inventive and downright cool. It was a fun trip. Good luck and all the best.

You had a good run. Be safe, Gods speed, and may the farce be with you.

Ah, and another small publisher bites the dust. I’m sorry. Thanks so much for your efforts, and I hope that at some point you can bring it back.

So sorry to see you go! This was a great place to stop by and read a quick five-minute story when I had a few minutes to spare.

I doubt it could have been done any better! You folks did an awesome job of presenting some top-shelf fiction over these last few years.

I’m so sad. You were my favorite speculative online magazine, and home to one of my best stories. I wish you could have looked into selling yourself to another journal!
